God tells Joel the Prophet, “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten.
. . . And afterward, I will pour my spirit into all people.”
Joel 2:25,28
Some Ideas to Contemplate:
- This passage from the Prophet Joel, in the section often titled, “Restoration Promised,” is a message of grace. It assures us that even when we think we won’t have enough resources, we can’t healed, or we messed up royally, God is the Only Power and Presence in the Universe, the Source, Substance, and Sustenance of our lives.
- Whenever a prophet shares a message in sacred literature, we’re encouraged to deepen our faith and view life from a new, positive direction. The spirit poured into each of us, no matter who we are, where we live, what we do, how we identify, or who we love, is God’s spirit, our divine soul imprint. The repayment Joel describes is a restored connection between God (Higher Power, Supreme Being, etc.) and us. Without this connection, Joel says, we may never recognize our own soul radiance.
- God is always connected to us, though we may choose not to align with this supreme, divine energy. In addition, if we continually dwell on the past—what we didn’t get, what didn’t work, who was at fault, etc.—we miss what’s best for us now. By reconnecting with Source, especially on an intuitive level, we know everything is unfolding perfectly, and we know what to do.
Practices for the Week:
- Set your intention and focus your energy on being grounded in the present and reconnecting with your higher power, however you define it.
- Forgive yourself for any mistakes or shortcomings, especially for not knowing what you now know.
- Illustrate, journal, and/or record whatever wisdom you’ve gained from past experiences and let it support your bright future now.
You are a spiritual being with a radiant soul, living in a sacred body temple, having human experiences. The past can’t define you when you choose to begin again and do things differently. Remember: The energy that caused a problem isn’t the energy that will resolve it. So redirect your energy and be restored to your radiant soul capacity.
