“God gives generously to all without finding fault
. . . so ask in faith, without doubting,
because the one who doubts is like a wave on the sea,
blown and tossed by the wind.”
James 1:5-6
Some Ideas to Contemplate:
- This wisdom from James, Jesus’s brother, encourages us to be bold in our faith as we request our heart’s desires. It also reminds us that God (Higher Power, Supreme Universal Energy, etc.) is our Source and Sustenance, the divine life energy that flows through each of us, no matter who we are, who we love, or how we identify. So begging and beseeching in prayer does nothing to change God, though it could get us cranked up.
- Doubt is a form of lack: lack of confidence, direction, purpose, and/or trust. Doubt is a “woulda-coulda-shoulda” mentalizing blowtorch that extinguishes faith and diminishes hope. It also blocks healing, stunts growth, and erases intuition.
- Faith, in comparison, is trust in God and in ourselves, our own discernment and knowing. It is a neutral energy that works as we direct it. Whatever our faith in something, whether optimistic or pessimistic, that is how our faith flows.
- Furthermore, faith does not require myriad details, so the simpler our prayer requests, the better. When we are grounded in faith, we pray affirmatively, trusting the perfect outcome, the “how” to God. We let God work within the situation and proceed as we are guided.
Practices for the Week:
- Focus all your energy in a positive direction.
- Relax, turn within, and set positive intentions for yourself.
- Illustrate, journal, and/or record how you are demonstrating your faith.
You are a spiritual being with a radiant soul, living in a sacred body temple, having human experiences. Faith allows you to live from the depths of your being and to express your true soul self as one of God’s divine beloveds. Activate and direct your faith toward your best, and let your best unfold.
