God said to Cyrus:
“I will go before you and make the rough places smooth.
I will break through gates and cut through iron.
I will give you the treasures of darkness
and riches hidden in secret places
so you may know that I Am God.”

From Isaiah 45:2-3

Some Ideas to Contemplate:

  • In this passage from the prophet called Isaiah, Cyrus II of Persia is told that obstacles are being removed so he can liberate himself, as well as the exiled Israelites.  This is assurance of his divine relationship with God (Higher Power, Supreme Divine Energy, Great Spirit, etc.), with him and within him, always and in all ways.  Cyrus can trust that gates are opening as he journeys to his next best place.
  • Neither Cyrus—nor we—need to know every detail about how our journey unfolds.  By leaving the “how” to God, we can experience more peace of mind and less worry.  Although some of us worry about the future, we have the inner power to alter that  state of consciousness (mindset).  Rather than equate uncertainty with fear, we can, as Master Teacher Emmet Fox advises, “teach ourselves to regard the unknown (the future) as friendly.”
  • Trusting in positive outcomes lets us draw on our inner wisdom, our intuition, symbolized by treasures of darkness and hidden riches.  Then we can move beyond where we have been, even if the exact destination is unclear.  As we let ourselves be guided, we can feel assured when we encounter the gap called liminal time (or space), a rite of passage when we are no longer “here,” but not yet “there.”  This sacred time, which may be experienced like seeing through twilight or watching a gate open, helps us journey to our greater good and witness a friendly future.

Practices for the Week:

  • Reflect on your intentions.
  • Notice your intuitive guidance.
  • Illustrate, journal, and/or record the friendly ways your path now supports these intentions.

You are a spiritual being with a radiant soul, living in a sacred body temple, having human experiences.  Whether your intention is, for example, to heal an upset stomach, stand up for your beliefs, set clear boundaries, or open yourself to a loving, healthy relationship, imagine what you want to unfold.  Know that you do not need to figure everything out yourself.  Trust your intuition, follow your guidance, and watch the gates open before you.
