Jesus said:
“After great difficulties, the Son of Man will arrive
in the clouds with great power and glory.
God will send angels to gather the elect from the four winds,
from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.”
Mark 13:26-27
Some Ideas to Contemplate:
- In this passage by the Gospel Writer called Mark, also shared by Writers Matthew (Chapter 24) and Luke (Chapter 21), Jesus—Master Mystic, Healer, and Wayshower—teaches about the magnitude of God’s Presence and Power in the Universe and in our lives. Throughout these portions of scripture, Jesus warns his followers to be wary of false messiahs. For example: those who are self-serving and self-aggrandizing, who enthrone themselves above God (Higher Power, Supreme Universal Energy, etc.) and God’s laws of wholeness, wellbeing, and abundance for all.
- Mystically and metaphysically, the Son of Man is the aspect of us, no matter how we gender identify, which is both divine and human. It represents who we are becoming as both human beings and as pure soul expressions, the Christ.
- Imagine that the four winds signify God’s sovereignty. As Jesus explains, God is omnipresence and omniscience. The winds, which move in all directions—north, south, east, and west—remind us that no matter our destination, God is always with us and within us. No exclusionary boundaries exist; everyone, from all walks of life, is God’s divine beloved, filled with divine life energy.
- Recognize angels as divine messengers who provide guidance, encouragement, comfort, and assurance. They are the spiritual presence of God, often revealed through dreams, intuition, and/or the words and actions of another person. However angels may interact with us, they help us align with God’s will for our absolute best, revealing what we can affirm for ourselves. They serve us, never themselves.
Practices for the Week:
- Remember: You are a spiritual being with a radiant soul, living in a sacred body temple, having human experiences.
- Reflect on your intuition, dreams, and God nudges.
- Illustrate, journal, and/or record all guidance you receive.
- Then discern how you will follow that guidance.
