I Know

“Be still and know . . .”

Psalm 46:10

Some Ideas to Contemplate:

  • This wisdom from one of the most popular Psalms in the Bible encourages us to release struggle and worry and turn within.  We are encouraged to know that God (Higher Power, Supreme Universal Energy) is in the midst of us and whatever is occurring around us.  The first verse of the Psalm says that God is “our refuge and our strength, a very present help during trouble.”  This is our assurance that we do not need to figure things out by ourselves or try to steer the Universe as we think best.
  • Knowing is a form of intuition, a recognition and understanding of something, even if we have never studied the topic before.  Combined with our still, small voice, knowing helps us tap into your own inner wisdom, access our spiritual strength, and proceed faithfully as we are guided.  Faith is a form of grounded knowing, the self-connection and self-awareness that calmly says, “I know things are going to be fine,” without us needing any definitive analysis or specific details.
  • Mental and emotional stillness helps us cultivate our interior life and grow in spiritual maturity so we can live with ease, grace, joy, and peace in a sometimes chaotic world.  This not only helps us personally, but also encourages others.  So, just like the biblical Psalmist, we can rest assured that our perfect path is unfolding without any forcing and pushing.  When we choose to be still, even if we are coloring, driving, or exercising, for example, we let our minds rest.  We trust the perfect outcome, the “how” to God.

Practices for the Week:

  • Set your intention and direct your energy toward stillness a few times daily.
  • Relax and notice what you see, hear, and sense.
  • Illustrate, journal, and/or record all you know about your current circumstances.

You are a spiritual being with a radiant soul, living in a sacred body temple, having human experiences.  Remember that you cannot reach new heights with the same energy that got you where you are.  Shift your energy, and affirm that you have all the information you need exactly when you need it.  Then trust that you know what to do and where to go now.
