Jesus said: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a jeweler in search of fine pearls.
When they find one pearl of great value, they sell everything they have to buy it.”

Matthew 13:45-46

Some Ideas to Contemplate:

  • Jesus’s wisdom in one of his many parables about the Kingdom of Heaven reminds us that we can use our energy proactively and productively.  The jeweler is enterprising because they are willing to invest in what they value most.  They do not merely seek valuable gems.  Their mission is to own the finest pearl.
  • Jesus—Master Mystic, Healer, Teacher, and Wayshower—lived in the world without being caught in worldly dynamics.  He encourages us to know that despite difficult circumstances, we have free will, the ability to choose without predestination, fate, or karmic influence.  Throughout his ministry, he taught that the Kingdom of Heaven is an Eternal State of Grace, available here and now, in our recognizing and expressing our divinity.
  • Karma can be defined as the accumulated energy of experience.  We choose whether we will learn and grow through these experiences or whether we will repeat them.  Furthermore, we are not to try overcoming all tension and conflict.  During our search for fine pearls, we might hit a proverbial detour.  Yet, as we embody our divinity, we discover autonomy and freedom beyond what we have previously experienced.
  • Minister Emmet Fox teaches that we have the power to change our minds, alter our behavior, and transform our lives.  He says that “the capriciousness of destiny . . . is nonsense.”  The spiritual key is our own character, our Christ consciousness.  That alone “makes or breaks” our success, he says, no matter what we seek.

Practices for the Week:

  • Notice when you blame yourself or others for anything occurring around you.
  • Release the blame and reflect on your divine character.
  • Illustrate, journal, and/or record all the best ways to use your energy now.

You are a spiritual being with a radiant soul, living in a sacred body temple, having human experiences.  Remember that you have your own divine soul imprint, the Christ, just as Jesus did.  Believing that you are a victim of fate, illness, or upset is abdicating responsibility for yourself and letting someone else determine your truth.  Embrace your power to create your destiny and live in an Eternal State of Grace now.
