God said to Noah:
“Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds,
I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant
I have established between Me
and every living creature of every kind on Earth.”
From Genesis 9:16-17
Some Ideas to Contemplate:
- This divine assurance, a covenant shared with Noah, concludes the biblical story of the 40-day flood. It reveals one of God’s greatest gifts to all sentient beings, everywhere on Earth: the eternal blessing of infinite compassion, unconditional love, and everlasting grace.
- Mystically and metaphysically, a covenant is a sacred promise between God (Higher Power, Divine Presence, Supreme Universal Energy, etc.) and us, a pledge that we are one with our Creator, which created us in love and continues to love us into being. It assures us that God is in the midst of all aspects of our lives, the fun and fulfilling, as well as the floods and fury.
- Rainbows are radiant signs that a storm has passed. They symbolize God’s majesty, glory, and faithfulness, the assurance that wherever we are, God is, with us and within us. They help us recognize, like Noah, that we can follow God’s lead, remaining grounded in faith and strength, even in choppy waters.
- Storms are part of life’s journey, so how we navigate them makes all the difference. As Minister and Master Teacher Emmet Fox says, “The value any experience has for us is the value we put upon it in thought.” Big storms (challenges) only appear big when we consider them so. Yet, in Spirit, demonstrations are neither big nor little. These are our classifications. So, if we minimize a storm’s power in our thoughts, we discover that God is—and always has been—guiding our way.
Practices for the Week:
- Remember: You are a spiritual being with a radiant soul, living in a sacred body temple, having human experiences.
- Reflect on any challenges in your life.
- Illustrate, journal, and/or record all the ways you are being guided to move through them.
- Then discern how you want to follow that guidance.
